In the picturesque village of Sykia, Halkidiki, nestled among olive groves, stone paths, and the gentle sea breeze, stands a small house that seems to breathe the history of the land.
AMIRA House is not just an accommodation it is a living story, built with love, memories, and deep respect for tradition.
Its story begins in 1899, when the family’s great-grandfather built a simple hut of stone and earth, as was the custom of the old craftsmen of Halkidiki. It was a humble yet soulful space that sheltered the family and their life for many decades.

During the war of 1940, this humble hut became a refuge of hope. With courage and ingenuity, the grandfather hid his children along with the children of fellow villagers beneath the earthen floor to protect them from German patrols. There, among the stones and whispered prayers, lives were saved, and stories were born that are still softly spoken today.
When the war ended, the house once again filled with light and creation. The grandfather, a man of craft and patience, transformed it into a carpentry workshop. The sound of the saw and the scent of wood would fill the courtyard every morning, and the space that had once offered safety now offered life, purpose, and joy.
As the years went by, the house fell silent, wrapped in thyme and basil, yet it was never forgotten. Its stones waited patiently for the person who would give it a voice once more.
That person was Minas. With respect for the past and love for his homeland, he decided to restore the old stone-built house, preserving its traditional character, its natural stone walls, and the wooden ceiling that evokes memories of another era.
And so, AMIRA House was born , a home that unites three generations and carries the imprint of an entire family.
Today, it opens its doors to travelers from all over the world, offering hospitality with soul, genuine simplicity, and the serenity that only a place with deep roots can provide.
Here, every guest is not merely staying in a house ,
they become part of a story that began more than a century ago.
A story that continues to be written ,with light, with smiles, and with the genuine warmth of Sykia.
