Thessaloniki Airport to Sithonia: The Complete Guide
Your flight lands at "Makedonia" Airport (SKG) and Sithonia is waiting. How far is it, how long does it take, and what's the best way to reach Sykia? Here's everything you need — from someone who drives this route all the time.
📍 Distance & time
From Thessaloniki Airport to Sykia in Sithonia it's about 120 km, roughly 1 hour 45 minutes by car. The drive is easy and scenic: Thessaloniki ring road → Nea Moudania → Nikiti, then into Sithonia towards Sarti and Sykia.
🚗 By rental car (recommended)
By far the best option. All major rental companies are at the airport, so you can pick up your car on arrival. Sithonia's beaches and villages are spread out — with your own car you explore a different bay every day without depending on timetables.
- Fill up on fuel before entering Sithonia (stations get sparser).
- Amira House has free private parking.
- Arriving late? No problem — we arrange late check-in via WhatsApp.
🚕 Taxi & private transfer
If you'd rather not drive, you can book a taxi or private transfer from the airport to your door. Expect roughly €120-160 depending on the season. Convenient for arrival, but for the whole stay a rental car works out cheaper.
🚌 By bus (KTEL)
There is no direct bus from the airport. The route is: transfer to the Halkidiki KTEL bus station in Thessaloniki, then a bus to the villages of Sithonia. It's the cheapest option but takes time and transfers — and without a car, exploring the beaches becomes difficult.
🧭 Arriving in Sykia
Sykia sits on the southeastern side of Sithonia, a quiet traditional village. Once you arrive, Amira House is 2 minutes from the square and 5 minutes from Sykia beach — the ideal base for exploring the whole peninsula.
Your base in the heart of Sithonia
A stone house in Sykia with free private parking, garden and Starlink Wi-Fi — 5 minutes from the beach.
